Intuitive Eating is out with a 4th edition and the co-authors Evelyn Tribole and Elyse Resch are on the show to discuss what you can expect in the newest edition and we answer listener questions about struggles with intuitive eating.
We discussed:
- The new alignment of Intuitive Eating with “anti-diet” approach.
- Changes to the specific principles (spoiler alert: they changed one principle to honor your feelings with KINDNESS), and I love this change. It’s even more aligned with the Body Kindness philosophy now.
- Why co-opting Intuitive Eating for weight loss (looking at you, NOOM) is wrong.
- Why self-compassion is so difficult and essential for learning Intuitive Eating.
- The beautiful neurobiology of interoceptive awareness to self-connect and how food is part of our connection to others as well.
- Common emotional triggers for soothing with food, and what to do if this bothers you.
- Listener questions around shame, gentle nutrition, IBS and more.

Love to win!
I love that the book is continually evolving, I’m not even sure which edition I have an audible but would love an updated version
I would love to win and I love the podcast episode! I also love the intuitive eating workbook and the third edition which I am still working through.
Looking forward to reading this updated version!
I’ve been hearing so much about IE and body love lately, I’d be thrilled to win a copy of this book!
I would love to win a copy! The interviews you have done with Evelyn and Elyse, are excellent, and I typically re-listen to them several times!! You ask great questions that they are not asked on other podcasts.
So pumped that the new edition is out and that anti-dieting philosophies are getting more attention. Thanks for the giveaway!
Thank you so much for this. Excellent discussion!
Thanks for all you do to help people like me treat our bodies and our minds with kindness and respect!
As a newbie, this podcast has me really wanting to read the 4th edition. I’m working through the workbook would like to compliment it.
While I haven’t had the opportunity yet to read the original book, I loved hearing about the changes to bring more inclusivity in the new edition. I think I’ve been a little scared to read “Intuitive Eating” for fear of triggering disordered eating, but I think I might be ready. My journey to body kindness has been slow and clunky, and I look forward to continuing along with the guidance of Rebecca Scritchfield and the resources she provides. To anyone reading this who is hesitant to start their own journey, know that the Body Kindness community is a safe place and you can go at whatever pace you are ready for.
The updates to the book sound really relevant, I love that they keep going back to make sure they’re giving good info in the moment.
Great Podcast!
I love IE!! I’d love the new book 🙂
Would love an updated copy of Intuitive Eating!
